About the IALD Education Trust

The IALD Education Trust is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 charitable educational organization that provides direct support to students, educators and academic programs for the purpose of promoting the study of architectural lighting design. 

MISSION: To support and encourages undergraduate and graduate education in architectural lighting design to ensure and enhance future growth and development of the independent lighting design profession.

VISION: "To create a better world through leadership and excellence in lighting design; to cultivate the universal acknowledgement and appreciation of the Power of Light in human life."

Learn2Light acts as a portal to various schools offering programs in lighting design, enticing students into the architectural lighting design profession.

SCHOLARSHIPS + STIPENDS
Scholarships and stipends provide support to students and/or educators for the purpose of promoting the study of architectural lighting design. The IALD Education Trust awards over $30,000 USD in scholarships and stipends each year.

Stipends provide support to educators for the purpose of promoting the ongoing study of architectural lighting design. Stipends provide educators with the opportunity to attend key lighting industry events, build upon their knowledge of lighting design and share that knowledge with their students in the classroom.

TEACH2LIGHT
Teach2Light offers online teaching tools to assist lighting design educators in the classroom. Materials include projects from IALD International Lighting Design Award winners, showcasing the world's best lighting for educator use, and teaching exercises developed by IALD Educator members.

The Ambassador Program unites lighting design students with lighting design professionals. Lighting designers are paired with universities internationally and act as ambassadors of the architectural lighting design profession, committing their time, energy and expertise to building lasting and supportive relationships with university architecture departments.

FUNDING FOR ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS
Is your program in need of funding? The IALD Education Trust provides funding to academic institutions in order to promote lighting education, by fostering new programs or enhancing and expanding existing programs. The intent of funding is to support lighting design in undergraduate and graduate programs worldwide. The IALD Education Trust has implemented a new Academic Institution Funding Request Policy to review requests for funding.

THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN LIGHTING ACADEMY [RMLA]
The IALD Education Trust is proud to provide funding to the RMLA at the University of Colorado at Boulder, a continuing education program for professionals working in the lighting industry. The RMLA is an extension of the highly regarded lighting education program within the architectural engineering department at the University of Colorado, and the proceeds from its activities provide ongoing financial support for the undergraduate program.

FIND A LIGHTING PROGRAM : SEARCH HELP

IALD Education Trust’s Find a Lighting Program feature includes four search options:

  • School, Region and Program Type can be searched using the drop-down menus.
  • To search by keyword, type in any word or phrase of interest (example: program’s name, company name, project name, zip code). The search will yield any profiles that include the keyword you’ve used, or will yield no results if your keyword is not found exactly as entered.
