The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) respects the privacy of its members and other visitors to its web site, and to protect their privacy, IALD has implemented the following policy.
What Information Does IALD Collect?
From IALD and LIRC Members - IALD collects data from its members in four ways: (1) for the IALD Member Directory, (2) for the Lighting Industry Resource Council (LIRC) Member Directory (3) for the "Find a Lighting Designer" Market Place listings (IALD Professional and Associate members only), and (4) for online meeting registrations. Additionally, IALD and LIRC members are asked to provide their login and password information to access the Members Only section of the web site. It is our general policy to collect and store only personal information that our members knowingly provide. If our privacy policies change, we will notify all users by email or a special announcement placed on the web site.
From Visitors - IALD does not collect any personal information from users browsing its web site. Only aggregate data is collected from visitors to the "Find an IALD Lighting Designer" section, including profession and state/province/country. Aggregate data are only used for internal and marketing purposes and do not provide any personally identifying information.
Meeting/Conference Registrants and Other Customers - Individuals who register online for meetings or conferences, or who make an online purchase of an IALD product, are asked to provide information necessary to complete the transaction, such as name, member number (for members), organization name, business phone and email. Similar information may be submitted to IALD through printed membership applications, conference or seminar registration, publication orders and subscriptions. This information is not sold or distributed in any manner.
How Does IALD Use Data Collected?
Credit Card Account Information - IALD does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and customers. When members and customers choose to pay using their credit cards, IALD submits the information needed to obtain payment to the appropriate clearinghouse.
Disclosures to Third Parties – IALD makes available to all member and non-member web site visitors information collected for the LIRC Member Directory and the IALD Market Place listings (Professional and Associate Members only). IALD also may incorporate information users provide into hard copies of the LIRC Member Directory, IALD Member Directory and IALD Market Place listings, which IALD may provide to members and requesters. Occasionally, IALD may make its membership list available to select vendors. However, all IALD members have the right to "opt-out" of the mailing list availability by selecting that option in the membership profile.
IALD and LIRC members are asked to provide their login and password information to access the Members Only section of the Website, and that information is retained for the duration of the time the user is navigating the Members Only section. The retention of this information during the time that the user is navigating the Members Only section is called a "per-session" cookie (if the IALD or LIRC member leaves the Members Only section of the web site and wishes to return to the Members Only section, the login and password information may be required again). IALD does not use "persistent" cookies, which retain a user's information on the hard drive for future use.

The IALD's site contains links to other sites whose privacy practices may differ from ours. Users should consult the privacy notices of these other sites for more information. IALD has no control over the information that is submitted to, or collected by, these third parties.
